Tamamura Honten in Yamanouchi, Nagano was founded in 1805 as a sake brewery. In 2004 they launched the Shiga Kogen Beer line, applying the fermentation expertise from their Engi sake.
American IPA base with multi-hop aromatics and balanced malt sweetness. ABV around 6.0%. Not heavy, but with clear IPA character.
Excellent with curry, ethnic food, Mexican, grilled dishes, and blue cheese. Also pairs with Shiga Kogen regional fare like oyaki and Shinshu miso dishes.
Serve at 8-10°C in a tulip glass to enjoy aromas. Best enjoyed locally with Shiga Kogen tourism.
