Yo-Ho Brewing's flagship IPA. IBU 60 of confident bitterness paired with multi-hop aroma — the beer that taught Japan to love IPA.
The blue ogre label is iconic. A non-negotiable for Japanese bitter lovers.
Yo-Ho Brewing developed it in the late 1990s. The bold name (“The Blue Ogre of India”) and aggressive bitterness gradually built a following. Now synonymous with Japanese craft IPA.
IBU 60, ABV 7.0%. Citrus and pine-resin hop aroma, substantial malt sweetness for balance, long bitter finish in classic IPA form.
Excellent with spicy curries, Mexican (tacos, burritos), pizza, roast chicken, and blue cheese. The bitterness and aroma stand up to assertive dishes.
Serve around 10°C. Don't over-chill — the hops close down. A nonic pint or tulip glass works. Sip slowly to enjoy aroma → bitterness → finish in stages.
Beyond Yona Yona, Indo no Aooni, Suiyobi no Neko, and Tokyo Black represent the diverse lineup. Indo no Aooni is described not as “the gateway” but as “the door deeper into beer obsession.”
